This year I’m keeping it simple. I only have one resolution for Red Leaf Style in 2014. To be inspiring. When I started this home blog, that’s all I really aimed to do. To inspire you. Yes, you. I wanted you to get excited about your home. Whether I feature a DIY project, show off something that’s bugging me about my own home or talk about my thrift store finds, my goal is just to inspire. It may be a short resolution, but I’m thinking of it as a big challenge for the year. I want Red Leaf Style to be the place you go when you’re looking for new ideas to decorate your home or just want to get inspired. Here’s to a new year full of home decorating love! Reflecting on 31 Days
Whew. I can’t believe the 31 days challenge is over. I took the challenge to post about one topic every day in October here on Red Leaf Style. I may have cheated a little. Not every post completely relates to my original topic: 31 Days of Regimagining. And, I didn’t exactly post every single day. I kept up really well until around the halfway mark when I took a trip to Portland, Oregon. Then, I didn’t post a few days and I had to play catch up. Still, I’m really proud of myself for doing what I was able to do. Here’s what I learned about blogging and my home this month. 1. Get creative I learned that not every single blog post I write has to be a 700 word, perfectly written blog post with five gorgeous photos. It can be one pretty photo. Or a few short words and a series of photos. There are so many options I didn’t consider before. 2. Just post I learned that when I had a goal to post every day, then I found a way to post every single day. I figured out a topic to write about no matter...
What Should I Do With It?
My awesome friend found this medicine cabinet sitting on the curb and snagged it for me. She knows about my love for free furniture. Do I have any idea what I’m going to do with it? No, not really. Am I excited about it any way? Of course! It’s not as big as it looks. The width is about the size of a standard medicine cabinet, maybe a little wider. And the length is probably about four feet. It doesn’t look like it would be too difficult to hang on the wall. Maybe I could just set the shabby shelf on top of a dresser? I’m really not sure. I need your ideas! Tell me what you think I should do with it? I need some creative inspiration. Please oh-please drop me an idea in the comments… Keep up with Red Leaf Style! My Fireplace Mantle For Fall
Welcome to my fireplace mantle this fall. What I love about my décor this year is that I only purchased a couple of items on the display. The rest came from around my house or from my front yard! I already owned the vases, vintage tin, plant and thrift store plate. The turkey feathers were courtesy of my boyfriend. The beeswax candles I made myself using jars I scrounged up from around the house. The pinecones came from my front yard. And, I bought the tiny pumpkins and gourds from my local farmer’s market. (A whole bucketful for $4!) How did you decorate your fall mantle this year? I’d love to see pictures… Keep up with Red Leaf Style! Cute Portland Apartment Roundup
If you’ve been following along, you know that I spent a long weekend in Portland, Oregon recently. After all of the shopping, coffee-drinking and food truck-eating, my friends and I headed back to an adorable apartment that we rented to stay in. I loved the cute vintage-inspired décor. It was so homey and fit with my style so much that I felt like I was staying at a friend’s place. Check out the whole apartment: Take a look at this adorable blue, yellow and pink bedroom. Cute Portland Apartment Living Room
On a recent trip to Portland, Oregon, my friends and I rented a cute apartment to stay in over a long weekend. The apartment was way cheaper than a hotel and full of vintage charm. I love the bright red accent wall in the living room! It was the perfect place to plan what we were going to do that day. Take a look at the rest of this vivid living room.
