Reimagining Inspiration: 5 Pinterest Pins

When we reimagine our homes, we come up with some pretty unique personalized ideas. If you follow my blog, you know that this month I’m doing a blog series called 31 Days of Reimagining. After a little Pinterest searching, I found five ideas that I think are particularly re-imaginative. Check them out. 1. Shutter Cup Rack Turn an old weathered shutter into cute plate and cup storage. This would be an excellent idea for my teeny kitchen. See the pin. 2. Frame Jewelry Storage This frame jewelry display gets a little extra quirk by using twigs to hold the necklaces. See the pin. 3. Chair Turned Nightstand Repurpose a pretty chair into your nightstand. Easy and budget-friendly! See the pin. 4. Pie Pan Tiered Stand Make your own three-tiered tray stand using just three pie pans and two candlestick bases. See the pin. 5. Vintage Suitcase Nightstand Crafting a nightstand out of vintage suitcases isn’t exactly a new idea, but I had to include this pin because of its cheery color combination. See the pin. Thrift Store Plant Saucers

Instead of buying not-so-pretty plastic plant saucers to catch the excess water from my houseplants, I do something much more exciting. I buy cheap thrift store plates or saucers and place them under my plants. They look so much more stylish than those thin plastic saucers and they cost the same or less. I chose all white plates to give my plants a cohesive look. (If you’re wondering, that’s my dog sticking her little nose into the picture above. She thinks the thrift store plant saucers are pretty neat too.) How do you reimagine thrift store plates in your home? I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments… Keep up with Red Leaf Style! How to Love Your Home’s Imperfections

You and I probably look at the picture above differently. You know why? I see the imperfections. Because it’s my home. The things you might not notice, irk me all the time. Like those dog bowls off to the left. They don’t do my dining room any decorating favors, but I can’t have my doggie going hungry either! And, you can’t see it but I know that those curtains are hanging from an ugly white curtain rod that came with the rental house. You also can’t see the hideous cobalt blue ceiling fan light fixture hanging overhead. I have no words for the imperfections of that. And those seemingly put together built-in bookshelves? The cabinet doors are hiding what’s essentially my pantry at the moment. My kitchen is too tiny to store food, so beneath those books and knickknacks are pasta, canned goods and baking supplies. My home is definitely imperfect. But on the Sunday morning when I took this picture, the light was just so perfect. It made the room look cozy, light and happy. And you know what? Right then all of those imperfections didn’t matter. It made me think that maybe those imperfections should matter a little less...

Are You Stuck in a Decorating Rut?

Do you ever think your home just feels boring? It’s just…the same? You want to change it up but you don’t know how? You’re in a decorating funk, my friend. I’ve been there too. It’s kind of like how you dress. Often, I put together the same outfit combinations over and over. Same shirt with the same pants. Same shoes. Then, when I try an out-of-my-usual combination, and it works, it’s a revelation. Why didn’t I do that before? The same can happen with your decorating style. You just have to get out of your usual way of doing things. Here are five ideas to pull you out of that decorating rut. 1. Rearrange the furniture Challenge yourself to rearrange your furniture. This simple trick can make a huge difference. Even if it seems like you can’t make any other combination than what you currently have, you probably can. Just give it a try. It’s amazing how just moving your couch can make your living room feel like a whole new space. 2. Switch rooms Just because you have that armchair in the living room doesn’t mean it needs to stay there. Maybe it would work better in the...

Welcome to my 31 days blog series: 31 Days of Reimagining. This blog series is part of the 31 days challenge hosted by one of my favorite home bloggers, The Nester. (Even though it’s the one I wish I could devote the most time to.) But this month there will be no excuses! No. Excuses. So, get ready world for a full month of ways to reimagine your home. That’s my topic. 31 Days of Reimagining. Because that’s what I’m all about here on Red Leaf Style, reimagining your home in new ways. Welcome to My Extremely Peach Bathroom

My recent move to a new house landed me with one peachy bathroom. Take a look at that tile. Whew-wee. That’s some serious peach. I really have no idea what to do with this 1950s peach tile bathroom. Right now, I’m using the deep purple shower curtain and gray bath mat I already owned. I think the dark purple actually works pretty well. Even the gray is nice. But it still feels a bit girly and unimaginative. Through a bit of Pinterest research, I’ve found that decorating a peach tile bathroom can go one of two ways. 1) You embrace the peach and make the bathroom super girly. Or… 2) You try to detract from the peachiness. I think my boyfriend would appreciate it if I chose the second option. For now I’m not sure what to do with it, so I’m collecting ideas on a Pinterest board. If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them. In the meantime, check out the bathroom in all of its peach glory. Have an amazing decorating ideas to make peach tile look good? Share it in the comments… Keep Up With Red Leaf Style!
